Today on Novels On The Run on our blog tour stop I have my book review of Spectral. I'm going to say, this is a gem of a read. I loved!! it. Chace and Roman are hard to choose for my team t-shirt, but , Roman wins out. If you love Adrian and Dimitri from Vampire Academy, you will love these two guys. This story has not a vampire in sight, just saying these guys are very lovable.
LOVE! this cover, it is so pretty.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Convinced she’s a part of the witness protection program, sixteen-year-old Jewel Rose is shuffled around the globe with her family like a pack of traveling gypsies. After arriving at lucky home twenty-seven, she stumbles upon a mysterious boy with magical powers claiming to be her guardian . . . and warning of imminent danger. Despite the obvious sparks between them, Jewel discovers a relationship is forbidden, and the more she learns about dark, brooding Roman, she begins to question who she can even believe—the family who raised her, or the supposed sworn protector who claims they’ve been lying to her all along.
As she struggles to uncover who her family has really been running from, she is forced to hide her birthmark that reveals who she is. With new realities surfacing, unexplained powers appearing, and two tempting boys vying for her heart, Jewel battles to learn who she can trust in an ever growing sea of lies, hoping she’ll make it through her seventeenth birthday alive.
BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :
“Listen to me , Jewel. I wanna tell you a story..........It’s the story of the butterfly....”
I absolutely loved Spectral. Shannon has written a great story. All is not what it seems, and I loved the curveballs Shannon threw at us.
I am going to say, the guys in this book are gorgeously written. Chase Quinn, the jock type, Mr Karate kid, is a fine specimen and I would love to read more about him. Stefano, is a little sarcastic, gorgeous of course, he says it how he calls it. Last but not least is, Roman Matteo. Where Chace is blond and American, Roman is dark, mysterious, plays in a band and is Italian.... adds a few bonus points for smexiness.
Pretty early in, you work out that Jewel aka True’s mum and dad, are keeping some skeletons in the closet. We just don’t know what. Aunt Eva needs a bit of a ‘stinky dead fish slap’ and little brother Jayden is a sweetie.
Shannon had me turning these pages wanting to know more. I was very intrigued. She held back on being predictable. You may think you know what is coming up, but then....curveball!
I love how Chace calls Jewel aka True, maple leaf, and he is a good listener. This is always important when you have unbelievable things to get off your chest. I am hoping there is another book ....? I would like to get to know Chace more....after all Jewel did promise.
Jewel is a very likeable heroine , she is only, almost seventeen, but she will fight for her family and for good. She just has to make it to her seventeenth birthday party.
Shannon takes us from America, to Russia , and on to Italy, a lovely bit of scenery along the way and some smackdowns as the story unfolds.
Taylor is a great friend and Olivia needs a ‘stinky dead fish slap’ from me also...hehe! No seriously, she needs a slap, jealousy is not attractive.
I really enjoyed this tale of love, betrayal, brave hearts, witches, Augusti Forza, power struggles , spells, loyalty and some witchy fighting. The story will keep you intrigued to know more and the guys are just gorgeous. I highly recommend Spectral and have my fingers crossed for a sequel.
Oh and pink , don’t buy Jewel any pink......
FAVE QUOTES:
“If you change your mind, believe me - I’d make sure you knew I wanted you. I know I’d be there for you, and I’m damn sure I’d never let you go.”
“And what happened to you? You’ve obviously been drinking the Kool-Aid......”
“You know, right about now, I think your nickname should be Chaos. Continue to not listen, and your nickname will be Armageddon.”
“Tu sei bella, butterfly.”
