THE IMMORTAL RULES - BLOOD OF EDEN # 1

BY JULIE KAGAWA

( Author of The Iron Fey Series)

You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

I love both of these authors and the stories they have to tell. I have been waiting to read Julie's vampire series and I absolutely love Tim's Kiera Hudson series, I'm addicted!

I have noticed around the blogosphere USA covers vs Aussie covers so I thought I would put these two covers up against each other and for something a little different see what you guys thought.

  1. Oh I really love both. But I'm leaning more towards The Immortal Rules because I prefer the red eye.

  2. They are so similiar you have to wonder if they are stock. Anyway, I like the Vampire Shift a little better because of the hair over the face. Reminds me of old movies.

  5. When I saw this last night on FB I was outraged for Tim. LOL! They totally copied him. The Immortal Rules cover is awesome, but Vampire Shift is still one of my all time fave covers period! It was the whole reason I wanted to read VS, because the cover captivated me

Oh and Michelle I'm so sorry I didn't get back to your post on my blog the other day. It was a crazy couple of days with the Black Hand Ball in Sydney!

I'm sure you'll have an awesome time tonight, even if your the oldest there and you may be surprised who goes. I went to a VA end of tour party with Richelle Mead a couple of years ago and there were tonnes of people there, of all ages!
And... I think it's great that you're dragging the hubby along ^_^ I took my mum with me and she had a great time, lol.

And as for sending me a bookpate of Tim's I just don't know what to say. It's so incredibly kind of you and I'd be honoured if you wanted to send me one. I'll email you shortly with my address, so if you find a random email in your inbox it's just me, haha ;)

  7. It's a huge kick in the guts to see such beautiful original cover art being remodelled/copied for another book - and that's putting it nicely.

I'm all for Vampire Shift !! A much more realistic picture and an absolutely awesome book !!

As for the Immortal Rules??? Would have looked much better without the blood tear . . .
